Frida Kahlo is one of the most important visual artists of the 20th century and an icon of feminism around the world. Her fiery and tumultuous marriage to Mexican mural painter Diego Rivera was littered with gossip and controversy. Her paintings are strongly autobiographical and explore many themes of identity, culture, politics, and gender from her native Mexico.
